Orange is the New Black:
When thinking through this kitchen, we knew the wall colors and lighting needed to be updated at minimum to give the space a fresh and bright new look. After that and lots of discussion on the next priorities of what stayed, the counters, and what could go which was the cabinets, plans were set in motion. Lighting, new cabinetry, backsplash, appliances, faucets and furniture along with built in wine racks and hidden recycling and trash inserts were all additions that added even more function to the space. We decided on two tones for the cabinetry, with black for the island and white on the surrounding cabinets giving the room a real impact. New cabinet hardware and lots of hints of Client S's favorite color orange make this space fun and comfortable for family to gather around the table for dinner and a game of cards. We also decided on no window treatments to allow all of the natural light to shine through the new airy kitchen. Every window doesn't need to have a blind or drapery treatment and these are the perfect example with the beautiful backdrop of her yard, there isn't a prettier site.
All in a Day's Work:
When Client D, approached me about her husband's office, the main issues were that things didn't flow with the rest of the house and it had just become a spot to unload packages, and store boxes. Client D, nor her husband chose to work in the space or be in the room very often. A new paint color that was complementary to her favorite blues through the rest of her home and a few more small tweaks made way for proper storage in her built in bookcases that was critical to the room's functionality. We also outfitted the space with a new desk, desk chair, a sophisticated hide rug and absolutely fabulous lighting among other accessories and details to really highlight his collection of books and family photos. Lighting and rugs can really set the tone for a space and in this office, the results are stunning. Proper scale is key for this room and being able to have specific places for everything in the office keeps it looking as beautiful as it did the day we put on the finishing touches.
